Cow Says Daily News started as an experiment for me to do some hands-on learning with AI. I did a CodeLab using Gemini CLI to search the web for some news, and I was like "wow I want to see this every day!" So, this idea grew into something I wanted to try and automate, to grab a daily set of news headlines, sort and group them with AI, and curate it into a fun format reminiscent of the Linux/UNIX command "cowsay" to honor my sysadmin roots.

I'm basing our fictional primary reporter at CowSaysDailyNews.com (well, his name) on the fictional lead anchor, Will McAvoy, from HBO's series "The Newsroom." Look for Will to diligently report the past day's news sometime around 6.30am eastern time every day...

I chose the Ghost platform to host this site because it's an open sourced publishing tool [side eyes at Substack]. My work was all educational here, but if it helps some people stay in the know with a quick daily news summary then I'll take that as a bonus!
